Soundgarden - Superunknown

One of the bands that made a mark music in the 90's was Soundgarden. Another really great band from the Seattle grunge movement Soundgarden released "Superuknown" in 1994. This album took the world by storm. Singer Chris Cornell is a great singer and really shows it on this album. Great song writing and great melodically heavy riffs are a trademark for this band. Big hits which can still be heard on rock radio today are "Fell on Black Days","My Wave", "Superunknown" and "Spoonman" which according to the band and the video is about a man who actually does tricks with spoons, . My favorite song on this record is probably the slow but heavy ballad "The Day I Tried to Live". The biggest song from this album was "Black Hole Sun". Not that sure what its about but I just never really liked this song. I guess it just doesn't do anything for me and I find it a little boring. One fun fact about the song is that Peter Frampton actually covered the song as a guitar instrumental. Definitely one of my most favorite bands of the 90's . A great band and a great album that will stand the test of time in rock music.

"Whatsoever I feared has come to life, whatsoever I fought off became my life, just when everyday seemed to greet me with a smile sunspots have faded and now I'm doing time 'cause I fell on black days"

Alice in Chains - Dirt

In 1992 Alice in Chains released their second album "Dirt". This band had previously emerged from the Seattle music movement of the early 90's with a great new sound mixing a slow form of heavy metal and gritty rock. Lead singer Layne Staley and guitarist Jerry Cantrell shared vocals and very much complimented each other on all songs. The album "Dirt" really made this band into one of the biggest in the world. Starting out with the track "Them Bones" and screaming into my favorite track "Dam that River"this album comes at you with a vengeance. One track that would become a classic was "Rooster". Much like Metallica's "One", "Rooster" told the story of a man living through the horror of war. Other awesome tracks are "Down in a Hole", "Dirt", "Angry Chair" and the monster track "Would?". The track Godsmack would later be used to name another big band of the late 90's and early 2000's I'm talking about the band Godsmack. I will always remember being in jr high and just knowing what a huge band Alice in Chains would become.

Album Quote:
"Bury me softly in this womb, I give this part of me for you, Sand rains down and here I sit holding rare flowers in a tomb."
