Alice in Chains - Dirt
In 1992 Alice in Chains released their second album "Dirt". This band had previously emerged from the Seattle music movement of the early 90's with a great new sound mixing a slow form of heavy metal and gritty rock. Lead singer Layne Staley and guitarist Jerry Cantrell shared vocals and very much complimented each other on all songs. The album "Dirt" really made this band into one of the biggest in the world. Starting out with the track "Them Bones" and screaming into my favorite track "Dam that River"this album comes at you with a vengeance. One track that would become a classic was "Rooster". Much like Metallica's "One", "Rooster" told the story of a man living through the horror of war. Other awesome tracks are "Down in a Hole", "Dirt", "Angry Chair" and the monster track "Would?". The track Godsmack would later be used to name another big band of the late 90's and early 2000's I'm talking about the band Godsmack. I will always remember being in jr high and just knowing what a huge band Alice in Chains would become.
Album Quote:
"Bury me softly in this womb, I give this part of me for you, Sand rains down and here I sit holding rare flowers in a tomb."
