Blink 182 - Enema Of The State

Enema of the State was the second straight hit album for Blink 182 back in 1999. It really struck a chord on many levels with all Blink fans myself included. This album is a pop punk rock album about relationships, girls, sex and just plain adolescence. Just about every song is fun and emotional and just gets you right in the heart. The first single was "What's my age again?" a fun song about being lazy and you get dumped because of it. Everyone remembers the video for this song where the band is running around town naked while frightened people look on. One song that became the bands biggest hit is "All the small things". I really loved this song when the album first came out. I can think back and remember driving to my job at a record store that summer and listening to this album everyday and really being into this song. It's not that I don't like the song anymore because I do but radio had overplayed it and just brought it to a point where I can't listen to the song anymore. My most favorite songs from this song are "Going away to college" (a song that reminds me of this girl I was in love with in high school and the line that goes "is my picture still hanging n her locker" just gets me every time), "Wendy Clear", "Dumpweed", "Don't leave me", "Aliens Exist" and the infamous "Adam's Song". "Adam's Song" is about troubled youth and suicide. Although the song seems very sad it becomes very uplifting in the end.

This is one album that is forever embedded in my soul and it will always remind me of my youth and where I was in my life when I first heard it.

Album Quote:

"I'll think about the times
she kissed me after class
and she put up with my friends
I acted like an ass
I'd ditch my lecture to watch the girls play soccer
is my picture still hanging in her locker?"
