MXPX - Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo

Believe it or not there are only a hand full of albums that in a person's lifetime, despite how much music they love, actually speak specifically on how they feel about their own lives. Whether it be friends, family, work, love or school in 1998 MXPX released "Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo" which became precisely that for all fans of this band myself included.

For some reason when I went to the mall to buy what I knew was the new MXPX album I didn't have the highest of expectations. I think I hoped it was at least almost as good as their previous album "Life In General".  I was blown away when I went home to find out what an amazing album this album is. This band shows so many of its different sides on this album. They show hardcore punk with "Fist vs. Tact" a hardcore song that is actually anti-violence. In other words use your brain to get out of a jam and not violence. It has its cheesy but fun songs like "Party My House Be There", "I'm Ok Your Ok" and "The Downfall of Western Civilization".  Then there are the songs that you can truly relate to emotionally. Songs that speak of your misunderstandings of life, issues with love, friends etc. Songs like "Tomorrow's Another Day", "Invitation to Understanding", "Cold and All Alone", "What's Mine is Yours", "Inches from Life" and "Self Serving with a Purpose" .

If you love fast punk rock with the deep emotional level and you don't know this album then stop what your doing and pick it up. It might just change your life.

Album Quotes (Usually I choose one but there are just too many here to pass up)

"There's nothing quite like being sure of what's inside your heart"
"You don't own me, they've abolished slavery and I can''t wait for the day when thing's turn around"
"There's consequences for your actions, I know cause I'm paying for my now"
"You oughta know you can be inches from life and never live at all"
